The East Towne Mall is one of Madison's largest malls and has an abundance of chain stores that you will find in every American City. The mall is conveniently anchored by a Boston Store, Sears, and JC Penny and has over two hundred stores to suit your needs. No, you won't find a store that sells gold bullion bars but you can shop in great stores like The Gap, Bath and Body Works, Children's Place, and a Barnes and Noble. There are also several sit down restaurants both in and outside the mall as well as a food court in the mall if you need to take a break and fill up after a day of shopping. What's even better about The East Towne Mall is that there are numerous large chain stores like Best Buy and Office Depot, to new a few, on the block surrounding the mall. Whether you are looking for online collaboration software or a perfect outfit for a first date, you'll be sure to find it all at the East Towne Mall.
If local and independently owned stores are more your taste, then you should check out the Hilldale Mall. The mall is anchored by the overly familiar Macy's and a local specialty supermarket called Metcalfe's Sentry Foods. The more upscale shopping center offers more luxurious shops like Morgan's Shoes, L'Occitane, and Pucci's Gallery and Custom Framing. You might not be able to get your aquarium supplies here but If you are looking for a spa and shopping day out with your girlfriends the Hilldale Mall is perfect because of the abundance of hair and nail salon's. You could get your pedicures done at Fancy Nails and then head over to Anaala Salon and Spa to get your hair done.
Lastly, like most cities in the nation, Madison's downtown shopping district is fantastic. Monroe street is located next to the university and has a wealth of little intriguing shops and quaint restaurants. This district boasts the best independent shopping in the city and stretches nearly a mile long. You'll be able to find great clothing boutiques, art galleries, specialty shoe shops, and interior design and decorating shops where you can find the perfect wrought iron furniture, Toronto based cabinets, and unique lamps.
