Madison Area Technical College

If you belong to a family that has moved to Madison, Wisconsin to accommodate a parent or spouse's new job, you may be wondering what is left in the city for you. Perhaps you had hoped to attend school in your old city and now you worry about ending up being a counter attendant at a lead shot wholesale firm for your entire life. Well fear not, because Madison has its educational opportunities too. One school you might consider attending is the Madison Area Technical College.

Madison Area Technical College isn't a single school, rather an institution that is made up of multiple campuses scattered throughout the city of Madison and all across Wisconsin. Different programs are offered in different locations, so perhaps the campus you attend for your PCB Designer course will be different from the one you would be attending if you had chosen restaurant management. Six of the facilities are in Madison, the others in Portage, Watertown, Reedsburg, and Fort Atkinson.

What can you study at the Madison Area Technical College? All sorts of things. In fact, there are over 140 programs to choose from. Some are associate degrees while others are diplomas. The college doesn't offer any bachelor or graduate degree programs like you would find at a university, so this school wouldn't be a good fit for future Oakville dentists. Dental hygienists, however, and others with futures in service or industry would do well to study here however. Some examples might be if you wanted to become a plumber, an office supervisor, or a licensed practical nurse.

Courses are offered in transportation and logistics, marketing, hospitality and tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, media, training, health sciences, finance, information technology, and corrections and security. Studying in one of these areas could help you land a job in many places, including a factory here in Wisconsin or at a firm that does catering in Toronto, Ontario. There's also a program that offers you the chance to transfer to a university and complete a liberal arts degree.

Getting into the Madison Area Technical College is easy. For many programs, all you have to do is register. Other programs, especially the associate degree programs, will require a certain level of achievement in high school, and admission to the trade programs is based on your application for apprenticeship. The college does accept international students. If you're coming from a Canadian trademark firm you'll be fine, but applicants from non-English speaking countries will have to pass an English proficiency test.
